If we’ve been hit with a massive cold front before the snow falls and the ground is frozen solid, we flip to plan”B”: install the silt fencing by drilling holes for the wooden stakes and then place sandbags each 3 feet to maintain the silt fence material down and prevent soil from running underneath. The center drilling and sandbags are an extra cost, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. We recommend checking to gain approval for this alternative application. Of course, the choice to trench versus drill and bag will be handled on a case-by-case foundation.
Big Winds and Windscreen = More Sandbags.
During winter months, the northern wind can rip through areas and use additional strain on windscreen-clad panel fences. To counteract the further wind forces, our installers will put additional sandbags on panel fence bases at an extra fee.
